Maria Teresa Elias was born in El Paso Texas on April 25th, 1952. She was married to Anthony Elias for 52 years who she met at the young age of 13. Together they had 3 kids who gave them grandkids and greatkids that she adored and spoiled any chance she got. Maria was kind, selfless, loving and faithful. She had style, grace and strength. She was loved so entirely because she loved wholeheartedly.
To be in the presence of Maria was to truly be in the presence of God. She carried her faith with her where ever she went and spread the word of God to whomever she met. Her faith has lead her, her whole life. It was unbreakable and unwavering . She spent countless hours praying for others and also, thanking God for her own blessings. Though Maria worked very hard for everything she had, what she had, she shared and where she was given, she gave.
In their early years of marriage Maria and Anthony opened up their homes to many loved ones, family members and friends…even strangers. Why? Because that was her heart; her beautiful and giving heart. She made sure everyone always felt safe and welcome in her home. She provided with no conditions, with no stipulations. For years, she not only dedicated her free time to serving meal packages to the homeless in a small church in LA but she also worked tirelessly at an unemployment office helping others find ways to take care of their own families. Maria had not one selfish bone in her body. Everything she ever had, she got with others in mind. For all the meals she's given, for the home she provided for us all at different times, for the love she showered us with, for the millions of hugs, kisses and laughs…for everything, we remember Maria.
Maria passed in her home on July 25th, 2020 at 5:05 AM. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was kept comfortable as she fought her hardest to stay here with us, to pray for us, to comfort us and, of course, give us one more gift; time. No amount of time would have ever been enough when saying goodbye to a saint like Maria. Her family and friends only have comfort in one indisputable fact, she is still with us all. Still providing, guiding and watching over us from afar. We thank You God for taking her into Your Kingdom where she can do all this by your side. We thank You God for giving us the time we did have to say goodbye to our angel. We thank You God for at last taking away her pain and sickness. And last, we thank You God…for taking her home.
"God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace be thine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home."
