Ellen June Coussens Ellen June Coussens was born on 26th of March 1939 to parents Eli O. Tveden and Viola A. Tveden (Petersen) in Sidney Montana. Ellen passed away on 28th of December 2018 following a fight with cancer. She moved with her family to Spokane Washington in the early 1940’s where she attended Lewis and Clark High School and later Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. Ellen moved to Lancaster in 1960 and received her Registered Nurse degree in 1967. Ellen later received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care from University of Redlands 1982. Ellen married Phil C. Coussens, MD on 16th May 1970 and they lived together in Lancaster until moving to Rosamond Sky Park in 1986 where they pursued their flying interests and enjoyed many neighbors with similar interests. Ellen joined husband Dr. Philip C. Coussens in his family medical practice in Lancaster where they treated multiple generations of families in the Antelope Valley from the 1970’s through to the 2000’s. In the late 90’s and through early 2000’s the practice focused on providing FAA medical examinations to fellow aviators, many of whom are local and international legends. She enjoyed living in the Antelope Valley among'st numerous friends in aviation and in the medical profession. Ellen was a keen pilot and a proud member of the Ninety-Nines, an aviation organization for women. Ellen often competed in (and even won) competitions sponsored by the Ninety-Nines with her grand-daughter and co-pilot Lindsay Plein. Ellen also enjoyed dancing, and was a proud member of the Boogie Woogie Mamas, a local dance group dedicated to helping various worthy causes in the Valley. Ellen also loved to explore the United States by RV, with husband Phil and their dear friends Pat and Brian Russell. Ellen and Phil both passed away in late December ( 28th and 24th , respectively) peacefully at home and leave behind six children; Tami Bergerson, Jeff Jeter, David Jeter, Tom Coussens, Rob Coussens and John Coussens as well as thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
